Summer is Over

9 Jun

That went by pretty quick! The year’s just whizzing by.  I can’t believe half the year is already over.

Like I said in my previous post, my husband lost his job in March this year. So we’ve all been chilling at home. My daughter got to go on 3 swim trips, and we just spent Mother’s Day at the New World Hotel. I think our summer was a success even if we didn’t do go on any out-of-town trips.

The biggest surprise of the summer is how quickly my daughter made friends with our neighbor’s daughter, Alexa. They interacted at the school van the last day of school when everyone at their school was sent home at noon, and the driver took them home the same time. They spent all summer together.

Alexa also invited Nicole to join her at this year’s Jollibee Kids Scout program. That’s the second nicest surprise this summer. I didn’t think Nicole would have as much fun as she did (and for just P500!). She remembers all the lessons her Jollibee kuyas and ates taught her. Nicole was given her own Jollibee shirt and cap; and all the snacks for the 5-day program were already included in the P500 fee.

I know I should have posted this a bit earlier in the summer so other parents would have had the opportunity to enroll their kids in the program, but I really have a major blogging backlog, and am only trying to catch up now. Hey, there’s always next year! 🙂

Johnson’s Baby Shower

4 Nov

Johnson’s threw a baby shower for three expectant moms– Ria Tanjuatco Trillo, Lexi Schulze and Marielle Santos Po at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila yesterday, and invited media and mommy bloggers to the event.

Celebrity Mommies Sharing Their Pregnancy Stories

The event started with lunch. I didn’t eat too much food cause I wanted to eat lots of desserts 😛

Desserts on the Buffet Table (this wasn't my plate! LOL. defensive :-P)

It was a short and sweet event; the best part was I met a lot of awesome mommy bloggers with the cutest babies!

The event ended with a fun baby bath game (using baby dolls of course).

Baby Bath Game

I didn’t have a baby shower when I was pregnant with Nicole and it was my first time to attend a shower. I had fun 🙂

Here’s the good news: three lucky women can have their own baby shower c/o Johnson’s.  Catering, venue and goodies will be sponsored by Johnson’s, and the event will also be featured on the Lifestyle Network. Winner will also receive 1 year’s supply of Johnson’s products and a maternity photoshoot and baby photoshoot.

If you know anyone who is pregnant, you can nominate her to Johnson’s Baby World of Firsts . Just click on the “Baby Showers” tab on Johnson’s Baby World of Firsts Facebook page to see the complete mechanics and to submit a nomination for the promo.

I’m still thinking if I want to join. If I register to walk, can I run?  just kidding 🙂

Birthday Sweet Treat Option: Doughnuts

20 Aug

Nicole had a little Hello Kitty themed birthday celebration at school last Monday. If I knew how to bake or if I had money to order them, I would have served cupcakes.  But I didn’t so we served sugar-raised doughnuts from Dunkin’ Donuts to the kids.

With left-over Hello Kitty cut-outs from this project, my daughter Nicole and I made doughnut toppers.  We bought a pack of hard toothpicks at the public market: P5 for 100 and glued them to the back of the HKs.

Look how they turned out:

Doughnuts are perfect sweet treats for small celebrations because you can just buy them per box at the store.  You don’t have to be too careful about transporting them to the venue. My husband used his motorcycle to get doughnuts from the store. We brought the doughnuts to school in their boxes and just placed the toppers during the snack time.

SM Cinema Expo

14 Aug

If I had extra money, I would attend this expo.  P550 for three days with free snacks.  Not bad at all.
